Tuesday May 21-Wednesday 22: Workshop on Smart Grid Cyber Security

Day 1:

Invited talks, panel sessions, and poster session on the advances in methodology and tools for threat and vulnerability analysis, attack surface analysis, risk assessment and mitigation, cyber-physical system security, industrial IoT security, supply chain security, industry standards and best practices, and cybersecurity testbeds.

Day 2:

Cybersecurity training and Grid Exercise (GridEx): Testbed-based attack-defense training session and scenario-based GridEx for utility industry professionals.

May 22:

Workshop on Advances in Smart Grid (speakers from industry and ISU)

Generation: Advances in dispatchable renewable power from biomass, and case studies for combined heat and power integration

Transmission and Distribution: Advances in distribution and transmission grid planning and operation for high renewable power integration, focusing on infrastructure resilience.

Power and Energy research updates:

Energy storage, conventional vs. inverter-based voltage control, customer load analyses, load forecasting, wind technology advances, microgrid design and deployment for disaster recovery, building energy efficiency research, geomagnetic disturbance modeling and protection, and other topics presented as talks and research posters.

May 22 includes the annual EPRC banquet with speaker Mr. Will Kaul, consultant with Fresh Energy: “Grid Modernization in a Time of Deregulation, the Environmental Movement, and Rapid Technological Change”

May 23:

EPRC Technical Advisory Committee Meeting

Morning:

Industry updates and the annual EPRC Technical Advisory Committee meeting

Afternoon:

optional tours of ISU research labs
